Dr. Scott Drysdale has worked at the IWK for 19 years and provides oversight and administration for the clinical and academic services of the paediatric anaesthesia department.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the team’s clinical work has decreased because of the restrictions imposed on elective surgery but new and different work has ramped up.
Airway management situations, such as intubation, pose one of the most high risk times for aerosol generation and potential spread of the virus. Practicing by holding simulation exercises is extremely important. Thanks to those efforts the newly formed COVID Airway Team is trained and ready to respond safely whenever they are called upon.
